Unnecessary. Good acting, shot well. Just.. totally unnecessary. The kids these days like to say “for the plot”. I feel like this film is saying “find the plot”.

I found the production to be unique, novel and interesting editorial choices. I liked the premise but don’t agree there was a ton of character development as the most popular review claims. If you like something a bit different it’s a decent watch-engaging but not enveloping. I would have preferred a bit more to the ending-it just kind of slaps the twist on and is like TAH DAH. 7/10

I didn’t watch this but in my years I’ve gotten pretty good at analyzing trailers and I thought, well that’s his is just Jack Black’s version of McCarthy’s Genie. The reviews for genie amounted to 3.2 and this was 2.8. So yeah, someone thought they could just make a whole movie with no substance just typecasting two typecast comedians.

Terrible. I love McCarthy and will watch almost anything with her but this was tragic. I hope it was an honest mistake accepting the role and that she had no idea how poorly written the thing was.

How much better would this have been with John Cusack as Jeff? Entertaining, not amazing but engaging. If you like Chris hemsworth it isn’t hard to watch. I read some of the low reviews and those people seem pretty pretentious about an industry that… really isn’t very classy to begin with. I’d recommend anyone who likes the general genre to check it out, you won’t finish it and be like damn what a waste of two hours. That’s more than I can say for a lot of films, including ones reviewed in high regard.

Love it. Even if you don’t like it an original, must see.
