- Pros:
The cast; each member brought an intense well rounded feel to their perspective characters.
HBO taking on a mostly black leading cast, as stated above the acting was solid.
HBO doing Sci-fi is often a good deal.
- Cons:
The biggest con was the direction. The first episode seemed like a worthwhile prospectus for the rest of the season. However as the shows progressed, the theme seemed to get lost as there were some many under developed story lines. Jumping from character plot to the next with out really getting a clear picture as to why, made for an unsavory feeling. For example they had one episode of when Atticus was in Korea. Which was arguably the best episode of them all and that episode was still so under developed. That one episode needed to be built out in to at least three of it's own episodes to fully cover the topic. There was so much they could have done.
I don't know why HBO and the shows production tried to chunk together SO many different themes in to one short, eight episode, season. I got a feeling that I was watching all 11 seasons of the X-Files, without much context. As a viewer, it was very confusing. So to HBO, your production came up short. This show had so much promise and you let a good one slip away. I mean, come on HBO. Give a show a chance to grow. Why rush it ?!!!!?!!!!?!!!!!!!!!?!?!????!!
