I am a young black girl, I'm 19... I relate to Starr a whole lot... I never experencied what she experienced in the movie but experiencing racism is as real and harsh as ever. I've dealt with it at jobs and at school. It becomes alot to deal and at one point i didnt like that i was a black girl. I wished i was white and handed white privilege to escape and avoid those types of confrontations. Seeing this movie helped me be more confident in my skin and of my race and also understand that things like police brutality and racism aren't going away and its sad in our communities there is competition in neighborhoods to get to the top and the message of seeing my color and not seeing it as a weapon couldnt be more powerful.
