Wow, the directing of this movie must have been something else, the scene created was reminescent of hell with naked bodies and moaning corpses, the rising crescendo of interest as the story developed was compounded by the scenes of horror realistically dramatised to invoke the murderous feeling of hopelessness and futilty of war which is inspired of a madness inherent in mankind. This was balanced out by the other scenes less volatile but verbally demonstrative. Only the conclusion left one imagining whether Capt. Willard adopted the craziness of his nemisis or survived the mental anguish such a scenario which would make most people deranged. Certainly brings the ruthless war in Vietnam a lilttle closer to the imagination of a beckoning mind seeking to see the carnal and violent aspect of mankind. Despite the blood letting and curdling screams, the pigeon English rasping of the vietcong with their cursing hymns and catcalling there appears to be some thrill in the film which make one want to watch it again and again, perhaps its the cool calm deliberating of Willard against the lawless twisted murderous mind of Col. Kurtz which creates a feeling of good against evil that attracts the mind or the deep animal instinct that dwells beyond the equilibrium of sanity and derangment which exists in us all.
