Giving this short doc a "like" is only because it needs to be seen. There is nothing about it that is likable--it is truly horrifying to realize that the event portrayed even happened, much less that what it portrays never stopped happening. We are waking up to the massive racism which has ALWAYS been present in North America (I live in Canada, and yes, it is here, too, just not as blatantly as it has now become in the States, where I am from). I recently learned from an interview Abby Martin did with a woman author on TRNN discussing her new book, that when slavery was abolished, local self-appointed "militia" immediately began the regular practice of persecuting and killing ex-slaves. ALWAYS BEEN HERE AND WE CAN STOP IT.
