i joined the fandom back in 2017, when season 2 first came out. the first 3 seasons showed such promise and i genuinely loved the show, but around the 4th and 5th season i started to notice its flaws. the plot started getting confusing, but i still liked it. around the 6th season, however, that's where it all went downhill. season 6 and 7 were probably the worst thing i have ever watched (i didn't even watch the 8th season except for the last few seconds, i hated it. also, my friend took the L for me and watched the 8th season and told me about it and Y I K E S). the plot was so inconsistent, the paladins most of the time felt like they were strangers, not friends, and the ROMANCE. ohhh boy. i'm going to try and keep my shipping preferences out of this. now, allurance would have been cute if allura had shown interest in lance earlier in the seasons. also, dropping the "i love you" bomb on the first date? really? let's not forget the racism, fatphobia, and homophobia in the show. (hunk is so much more than food/all of the poc were treated horribly/gay couples died or barely got any screentime while the straight ones got the most screentime [thanks voltron]) to further elaborate, the canonically white characters got the most screentime (keith and pidge). don't get me wrong, i love keith, he's my favorite character, but he really needed to take a nap and let some other characters share the screen. (i don't care that much for pidge, i didn't like her that much. i thought she was annoying tbh. also, her DOG got half an episode. i love dogs but... A DOG??? A DOG THAT WAS BARELY MENTIONED??? wh) in my opinion, voltron started off as a wonderful show (i would totally rewatch the first 3 seasons again and again) but ended as a complete and utter disaster.
