So I decided to watch the second season about Julius Caesar as I have studied classics I was interested to see their interpretation of the events of the late Republic. I have to say that I am thoroughly disappointed. The show lacks key detail in some areas like failing to mention his political career pre-59 BCE or the fact that he was the Pontifex Maximus (pre-christian Pope). But worst of all they plainly make up plot lines and attitudes. They claimed that pompey and Crassus sent Caesar away to be a governor but it was standard procedure and something Caesar wanted and then extended at the confrerence at Luca in 56 BCE (where the Triumvirate reaffirmed their partnership, though the show does not mention this and paints the picture that the Triumvirate ended when Caesar went to Gaul). This is all just in the first 2 episodes. If you want to watch this for a historical political peace you're in luck, but if you are looking for accuracy or, you know, facts then you are not looking at the right show.
