When are these "movie critics" going to get it into their thick skulls that Super Movies are not made for, not meant for, don't care about nor even THINK of them?
They hem and haw and pontificate about "plot holes this" and "nuance that" when no one CARES. We want the artwork in that damn comic book to start MOVING. We want to drop that sheaf of stapled together paper as the actions and the sounds and the heroes move and breath and fight before our very eyes.
The Snyder Cut BRINGS it.
The stories we have followed for decades. The characters we have known for decades. The places we have known for decades.
They all blossom into brilliant vibrant fully fleshed out life.
Watch it in one sitting or three the movie is damn near one of the best comic book movies ever made.
DC has long had a hit or miss (mostly miss) record with their movies. I have often felt it was because DC didn't have the shepherd Marvel had in Stan Lee in it formative years. No one to answer to.
But Snyder has brought a life and thrill to the movie that makes it worth every single minute and more. So many times we sit through a movie hoping to get a nice chunk of pure escapist entertainment only to be sadly disappointed. The Whedon version sadly disappointed like most other underwhelming comic book movies. Most of the time our best response to a fight scene or a dazzling scene or event usually only elicits and halfhearted "meh" while we ask ourselves if the director even picked up a comic before.
Thank you, Snyder, for bringing your love for the genre and the characters to a place where we can all partake of the glory of watching a simple comic finally jump off of the page and into our hearts.
