Once you've hit the level of apocalypse mainly +12 it's legitimately impossible to continue. It never gives you better gear to help and you most definitely can not complete the mission. I've been stuck with 173 power gear. Also the tower sucks too. I get it's designed to be difficult but at a certain point it's unplayable.
