I think a lot of the problem was I expected to have the same feeling I got from the first movie. A warm homey kind of feeling. If we look at the original space jam we see a lot warmer colors and more of a down to earth home life for Michael Jordan. Now I love LeBron James on the court but, acting really isn’t is strong suit! I felt like this movie was an homage to his ego. His home life had a lot more expensive things in it and colder colors. He also pushed his son in a negative way in the beginning. Very different than the relationship we see Michael having with his kids in the first movie.
Then let’s talk about the way we enter loony toon land. I liked the idea in the original movie better where it felt more like magic. But I’m the second movie it was like they where trying to use science to explain things that are impossible. If you’re going to do the impossible I think it’s better to just stick with magic!
I felt the ending was predictable and we didn’t have enough character development along the way.
Over all the movie had very few good jokes! It’s too bad! The new character designs didn’t really bother me. But I thought it was ironic they took out Pepe le pew and included a scene with Rick and Morty! And I also got the feeling that Warner Brothers really really really wanted to show off their other movies! Parts of the movie almost felt life an ad to me. Like when we go flying by and see Harry Potter world.
So in conclusion this was a big disappointment! I feel like they could have done a lot better job! They probably should have just made a new movie all together instead of using the space Jam name.
