A modern woman in NYC would be hustling to make a good living instead of relying solely on her partner's income to elevate her. Lucy is supposed to be savvy and skilled at her job - so why wouldn't her ambition lead her to improve financial status? It doesn't make sense so difficult to buy into the entire plot.

Overly stylized, which works nicely in the beginning but wears thin as it progresses. At some point it started to remind me of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode with character Ellie's ghostly visions. The endless scenes of Ellie screaming furiously start to feel absurd instead of frightening, and the plot limps on, digressing into what feels like a dark graphic-novel tale.
