A brilliant creation given the context and story-line, it gives a purpose for the demon Valak that has been appearing through out the conjuring franchise. The screenplay, is somewhat out of steam than the conjuring series but together they weave a consistent tapestry of possible demonic interference in the lives of Ed and Loraine Warren.
