Just finished this book. I had an interest because I was a £10 POM as a child. However this was set ten years before we went and must have been when the first batch of people emigrated. The story was set around a family with Rose, the Mother, as the main character. There were so many twists and turns, the personalities of the characters were well detailed and believable, together with their interactions. I really became judgemental of their actions as I became more engrossed. The author is very witty and her observations frequently made me giggle. I belong to a book group and so many of my recent reads have been hard work, just wishing they would get to the point and stop writing paragraphs for the sake of elongating the book. It is an easy to get into book, that keeps you guessing, getting annoyed at certain characters but with a smile on your face. Highly recommended.
