weird but great

This movie was so disappointing. I waited for it for relatively long time, and I got total poo. So I’m a big fan of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The 1974, the weird sequel, and so on, so I was planning on watching this the weekend it came out. I waited about a day so some reviews would come in and I was starting to realize most were ones. Then I got multiple text from two friends of mine saying it sucked. I had been waiting for a long time though, so I made the awful mistake of watching it anyway. First thing I realized was the actors weren’t good. They were horrible, but they were very far from being decent, so I give acting a 2.5/10. Another thing I was beginning to see a pattern of was unnecessary characters and events that really didn’t need to happen because it didn’t make sense later. Well, I was still annoyed that I wasn’t really enjoying it until Sally came. That didn’t make it any better, if anything it made it worse. If you have seen the weird and very different from the first sequel from 1986, you’d know about that minute and a half opening with the narrated passage explaining what happened in the first and what has happened since then. One of the things they state is that Sally died in a mental hospital in 1977, so it doesn’t make sense that she’s in this movie. So that adds on to horrid writing and the other making sense. The only plus side of the movie for me is that the gore effects are pretty good. They overdid them though, and not only that they used it on a trash movie. That’s what annoys me. Don’t overgore a movie. I was catching on that it was only “canon” to the 1974, and that movie really isn’t that gory once you watch it full through. So I’m all for me, I give the movie a 1.5/10, and that’s being really generous. I recommend watching paint dry more than this.

I watched this in my classroom probably about two weeks ago and for some reason a clip on YouTube was recommended to me. This is by far one of the cringiest movies I think I have ever seen, and I have seen some cheesy and cringey movies. But this, made my whole class cringe. The acting is the worst part about it. Yes they are teenagers, but still, it isn’t even good for teenage acting.

By far one of my top 3 favorite horror films ever made. It feels realistic almost. The killers are real humans and not super natural beans who don’t die. It’s hilarious as well. Each character has something I love about them. The references as well. It shows that this is in real life and not another movie. The gore is pretty good too. The beginning is a scene that sticks with you. Not because it’s scary, which it is in some parts for fidgety people, but it’s sad. Spoiler alert ahead! When Casey is so close to her parents, he just gets her. Then her parents find her hung from a tree gutted. That would be horrible. I also like how they include the backstory. I love it, period.
