I found it dark and depressing. I recognise what MG was trying to portray and she did it very well. It just wasn't to my taste. I love Elena Ferante's books and eagerly await series 3 of My Brilliant Friend "Those who leave and those who stay".
Olivia Coleman is just fantastic in her role and you cannot fault her. For me there was a very aggressive side to this film against her as a single woman. The threats and language used were a scary reminder of what we face today in so called society.
