I might come back later and change my rating as I am only on the pilot episode. I give it 3 stars bc at least Fox dared to try with this concept that alot of women can relate to - I will give them credit for touching on a reality no other network would go near. I am 36yo, single, successful and content. Or at least I would be content if I weren't treated like I was defective for choosing to be single. People are actually really presumptive, judgemental and all around awful about it. All the more reason to remain single as far as I am concerned. Fox could have gone in a million creative and refreshing directions with the narrative for this show.
Instead, they thus far are relying heavily upon dated stereotypes and cliches with regards to why women make the choices we do. Exhibit A: our lead character abandons a successful and stable career to open a cat cafe. Really? That was the best Fox could do? I have to infer based on that that the writer's room is full of men. I could riff a quick list of far more entertaining ideas. My ideas are high quality, original, and based mostly on other badass women I know who enjoy being on their own.
I will hang in for one more episode, but if it kicks off with Mayim Bialik "looking for love" I am out.
