I love the book esperanza rising this book follows Esperanza and her family. They escape from Mexico to the US after esperanzas dad was killed and her uncle threatens her mom to marry her. When they get to the US her mom starts working but gets sick and ends up in the hospital so now Esperanza starts working in the field to pay her mothers medical bills. When she’s working there was a strike during the asparagus harvest and immigration officials break it up and take several away to be deported. Her mom comes back home from the hospital. Her and her cousin Miguel get in an argument and he leaves. After that Esperanza discovered that the money she had been saving to bring her grandma to the US is gone she gets mad and throws herself at work but the thing is her cousin Miguel took the money to bring their grandma to the US and they are one happy family again. This book is relatable to immigrant that have traveled to come to the US this book shows the struggle some family go through to come to the US and have a better life.
