Murach has a talent for books you will come back to time after time, they are well written with a focus on multiple learning styles. This book is more "enter this" and "get this" output-based than some lengthy philosophical approach. If you don't learn SQL by learning his book, you need to re-read it with a pen to take notes. There are so many books professing how to learn "insert subject" and these books have apparently never been proofread, spell checked or set up so they are version-independent. Murach is one of only two-book series that I will carte blanch recommend, 99% of the books on the market are missing an element of someone who knows how to teach. Instead, they arrogantly assume or seemingly forget how much they know and that the majority of the world doesn't know what they know. Learning MySQL is a skill worth thousands of dollars per week, this book helped me immensely as most online courses are created by morons. Murach's teaching method is such a simple and old-fashioned approach to instruction that it's borderline genius.
