I am sure I am bias as I have been an avid Stephen King reader from the very beginning.
Two of my favorites of King's are The Stand and It. In 1978 when The Stand was Published and again in 1986 when IT was Published. I was so enthralled with them I couldn't put them down. I even called into work sick to finish reading them.
I say all this as I just can't believe that no matter who it is trying to take Stephen King's Novels from print to either the Big or Little Screen, they always do an abominable job. Maybe I'm just a purest however when you take a master piece and have the audacity to change things and totally screw it up, it makes me nuts.
None of Stephen Kings Novels or writings (short Stories etc...) have even had Justice done to them when putting them on the screen.
That is with the exception of Misery. Not only did they stay pretty true to the book but Misery was cast Superbly.
Not so much with The Stand. This production of The Stand is The Worst I have ever watched
I am trying not to judge until I have seen the entire season however after watching episodes 1,2 & 3 I am shaking my head. So far in my humble opinion this version of The Stand, Stinks. They also certainly could have cast it better.
I guess for me I just think that whoever is writing King's work for the screen should be able to visually do at least what Stephen King does with Words. For an example
(I Hope I can articulate this right)
In Misery when Stephen King describes how Paul, when waiting for his next dose of Pain Meds compares that too when water washes over a brittle sun dried pier. How the water washing over the pier must feel, like he feels once he finally gets his dose of meds.
Stephen King is just Simply a Master of the written word. The transfer to the screen is just an injustice.
Sorry for the Rant, I for one was excited for the wait and just had to watch it. Enough that I ordered CBS ALL ACCESS which I only did to see The Stand.....what a waste of money...So Far...
