Mohd Khalid – Google

The movie may be called The Flash and even has 2 of them but honestly, I only took my family to the cinema to see Michael Keaton return as Batman. Glad that he did more than just making a brief cameo. They kept to his Batman's original mannerism and fighting style and I loved it every time he was on screen. The story itself was okay but though based on FlashPoint, do expect some creative differences for better or worse. Overall, it met my expectations.

The first one was definitely better. This one was not as great but not that bad either. It was enjoyable to watch and Danny Glover was good in this. I guess after rewatching it as an adult now, it can be best summarized as shoehorning the Predator into a cop movie. It has all the tropes of a cop movie, the rebellious cop who doesn't follow the rules, the FBI and LAPD arguing over jurisdiction, the tough female cop teammate, the killed partner the hero must avenge, etc but ... there is also a Predator in it now. I'm surprised he wasn't asked to give up his gun and badge at some point. Overall, give it a watch and enjoy it.

Just watched on this Netflix. The show had a good opening hook and had me rooting for the family. Which is a shame as come the final third of the movie, I was a bit disappointed with the direction the story was heading. Not that I think the movie is that bad though. It had a promising premise, a good cast and created a rather spooky setting for the story to take place. It is just that when the big plot twist was revealed, I was undecided about to feel about it. It was neither a bad twist or a good one. It does however, turn the movie's plot into a convoluted one, making some earlier minor plotholes harder to overlook. Overall I consider this an average horror movie. Not that bad, but not that great either.

I went into the movie blind, not knowing what to expect, except for the brief description of the movie on Netflix. In summary, people in jungle, something kills them 1 by 1. Got it. I was interested to see if this was a human killer or something supernatural. The usual tropes are present. The only plane to the site only comes as and when, their phones has no network and the victims roster has the usual variety of characters such as the annoying one whom we will all hate, the meek one, the pretty one, the angry one, etc. Ok, so far so good. However, even without touching on the weak storyline or the poor pacing, one major issue I have with the movie is the camerawork. The repeated pan-and-zoom from a distance from the sky, tree, bush, ground seems to serve no real purpose. Usually it ends up panning or zooming behind an object which blocks the characters from view. It felt that they just bought a camera that that this feature so they do it over and over and over again. If it is supposed to be an artistic camera shot as it comes from a weird angle, they got carried away with it. That kinda ruined the experience for me. And the ending was at best anti-climatic or simply lazy. 3/10

I will try to avoid spoilers. The plot was rather predictable. It felt like it was written using a template and merely ticked off all the expected boxes, giving it a rather 'safe' storyline. The characters felt bland and uninteresting and some, like the psychiatrist and 'man in the cottage' felt like they don't belong in the movie frankly. Near the end I was just waiting for the movie to get the 'plot twist' done and over with. The movie chose to end with a narration, concluding with a statement that was never really the main theme (if there was one) discussed in the first place. Overall the movie was kinda meh. The only saving grace was that I watched in on Netflix instead of in the theatres as this movie deserves no more than a low Rental rating.
