I had already booked tickets before the bad ratings came out so I was feeling dejected and went in with very low expectations... but I was blown away! Maybe it didn't appeal to some people as it strays from the tried and true typical superhero movie formula, and it worked in the film's favour because this was not the typical superhero movie. It told the story of a group of immortal beings with a mission on earth but are forbidden to interfere with the conflicts and progression of humans. I won't put any spoilers and just keep it general but the film was successful in fleshing out each character (there was a lot but each had their moments and never felt glossed over), their motivations and their relationship to each other. It was story about family, and it packed quite a lot of philosophical discussions in there too which other marvel films don't really go far into so it was very interesting to watch. I actually don't mind if there's no real big bad villain like in other marvel films, I like seeing complexity and sides to a character or plot portrayed. I'm very glad I watched it in the end and didn't let the bad reviews deter me.
