Yes, like almost everyone else reviewing here, I was a big fan of the show back in the day so I came to this with a little trepidation.
There is, admittedly, a lot to get over in the first episode - the beloved characters who are missing and the new ones written in; It was almost to much to bear and I didn't enjoy the episode at all. But stick with it. Appreciating something is a two-way road, you have to be open to the idea of change and progress, fuck the haters, and give it a chance.
By the second episode I was reeled in, gutted and buttered! The writing is exceptional and the sit-com conventions given due deference at every scene. Kelsey Grammer is bursting with almost supernatural, youthful energy and the rest of the cast fit their shoes perfectly. Nicholas Lyndhurst's character, initially the hardest hurdle to get over, gives some of the biggest laughs and the younger cast are refreshing, sharp and respectful.
All in all, these two seasons are as goofy, tense, well written and laugh-out-loud funny as the earlier ones.
This is no reboot, this is the real deal, as much a part of the Frasier story as all that has come before.
