The episodes in 'Maid' are depressing and devastating, but also enlightening in that it shows us what is available for single and abused mothers from government services. This includes housing, food, used clothing and counseling, all so necessary for these abandoned and fragile women. What other studies have shown is that many women currently incarcerated have indeed killed their spouses/partners out of fear and years of abuse in order to save their own lives. I am looking forward to the next season of episodes of 'Maid.'

Did the scenes of baseball difficulty, cocaine use, prostitute pickups interaction with a rather cold father an attempt by the producer to answer the question of motivation behind the deliberate killings and maimings of his patients, mainly women, by Dr. Death? It was difficult to follow the sequence of events and to watch the harrowing surgeries, especially the use of a hammer and the looks of the startled nurses obviously appalled with the doctor's behavior. I was unable to finish watching the episodes, so awful was the fact we were watching terrible actions of a real villain who was clothed in an outfit which gave him immunity and awe despite his deadly medical practice.

It's a grand movie; inspiring, tender and historical re the miners' strike during Margaret Thatcher's reign. Billy Elliot is based on a true story which is amazing in itself; that a young boy from the boonies would aspire to dance ballet! I would recommend this movie for anyone who loves to see dancing and the way young children can be motivated to learn the ropes and be taught by a loving teacher.

Releasing this movie at this time in American political life can be a warning to all Americans that history tends to repeat itself. There has always been acrimony between the two major parties over issues on immigration, racial divides and religious differences. The need to exercise empathy towards those of a different religion and to avoid hysteria is exhibited in the plot itself. It was especially interesting that the disappearance of Lindberg and his son were included in this story in a very shocking manner, since I was a small child when the kidnapping actually occurred.. I am dubious about the speech that Lindberg's wife made at the end of the film, since it did not seem plausible after the characterization she had exhibited earlier in the plot. Were Melania Trump make such a speech about her husband and the role he is playing in dividing this country I would find it equally stunning to say the least.

The movie was a mesmerizing performance and one that has made me an adoring fan of Callas for the rest of my life. Living in Chicago, I only remember her fiery temper when being served a summons of some kind at the Lyric Opera. Her picture appeared on the cover of the Chicago Tribune, so I was not anxious to follow her career. I believe that her heart was broken by her trust in Onassis and his passing may have contributed to her death at the untimely age of 53..
