I recently watched the Tamil movie PT Sir, released in 2024, and I honestly donโt know how I missed it until now. I wasnโt in India at the time, but itโs surprisingโand a bit disappointingโthat this film didnโt get the attention it truly deserves. Whether it was the marketing or something else, it just wasnโt talked about the way it should have been.
As a woman, what stood out to me most was how thoughtfully the film handled the topic of harassment. The story was powerful, yet it never resorted to showing explicit sexual violence or scenes that make women uncomfortableโsomething that even some of the biggest, well-meaning films about womenโs issues often end up doing. Watching PT Sir, I didnโt feel awkward or retraumatized. Instead, I laughed, I felt strong, and while I didnโt cry, I did feel deeply empowered.
Iโm not someone who usually writes reviews or looks up film analyses, but PT Sir moved me enough to share my thoughts. The entire team have delivered something truly meaningful. The film captures the societal lens on womenโs harassment in a way that is both sensitive and impactful, while also showing how hard it is for a woman to reclaim her โnormalโ life after trauma.
We need to talk more about films like thisโones that actually make sense, treat their subjects with care, and empower the viewer. Hats off to the team behind PT Sirโan incredible and important film.
