A family fun, sweet and lighthearted kids movie with beautiful animation!!!
The threat to Ainbo’s village originally starts off as outsiders illegally lodging and mining the Amazon. However, then it turns into a somewhat perilous family reunion for Ainbo where she needs to save her Dad from Yacuruna (an evil spirit supposedly being the curse that’s destroying their village) which makes the whole plot of the movie a bit confusing. Whilst it’s no Pixar movie, it’s still a fun family film to watch if you enjoy animation and movies like Rio/ Rio 2.
I must admit that parts of the movie felf a bit undeveloped, with a missed opportunity to connect more with indigenous culture and show more to younger kids the importance of protecting/ respecting Mother Nature. Its fun set of characters and a story told from an Indigenous perspective make it quite a unique and heartfelt movie!
