The Reckoning: Remembering the Dutch Resistance

The movie tells of bravery and resistance during WWII, told by a six survivors. Plainly and without hesitation, these people rescued their life for their neighbors, customers and others, who were targeted just because of their faith. They choose not to comply to the tyrants, who invaded The Netherlands and attempted to change their life forever. Most of the people who joined the "Resistance", saw it as an opportunity, rather than a choice, they never looked back! Growing up in The Netherlands myself and learning in school about WWII and The Holocaust, there are many more untold stories of bravery relating to this horrific time period, yet to be explored!

This is not anything new. We have all been harassed and embarrassed in the workplace. I myself have fallen in that category, some 30-40 years ago. It has been going on for years. In these highly publicized cases, it concerns more money, more power and there fore gets all the publicity. In our "sue lusting" society, light is shed only on a few, who already made tons of money and were just awarded much more. Sexual abuse will continue in the work place and will only be addressed, if profitable.

This book so resonates with my back ground. I grew up in The Netherlands, Friesland, to be exact. Although born after the war, I would question my parents often about it, but they were short about the subject and I soon realized, they did not like to talk about it. My sister "Wilhelmina", much admired Audrey, and cut outs were collected and pasted in a book, which I liked to look through. We never knew about her life during the war, connection with Anne Frank and her family and her uncle, she so adored, being executed by the Nazis. I encourage everyone to read this story of bravery and hardship, it is so "telling", I am certain, this will be considered to be made into a movie presentation.
