This movie was awful from beginning to end. The metaphors are not enough to redeem it.

It was so incredibly boring!!!!!! Just a few scares and gross images, but those rare moments are the only positives. I thought Depp’s acting was overdone most of the time, and there were far too many waking dream sequences - if that’s the appropriate term. Worst is that the film showed no originality or creativity beyond visuals. The film is nothing more than a plagiarism of the Bram Stoker film with a change of location and new character names. Depp’s character might as well have been named Mina, Defoe’s Van Helsing, etc. The film offers nothing new in the way of vampire lore. The best thing about the production was the costumes.

This was absolutely awful!!! It’s barely watchable, especially when one realizes that the entire film is dubbed and, thus, all the voices are out of synch!!!

I think that when critics really hate a movie, it’s often a good sign that I will enjoy it.
