I’m glad I didn’t care about the reviews and watched it anyway...I realise how important self confidence is when I miss the confident Renee. She was really more fun & amazing to watch then, living up to her full potential & it’s something I’ve always wanted for myself.
It’s not just chubby people who lack self esteem. I’m glad the script understands what we go through, how it all gets to us, it’s so very relatable especially when the magic’s over & her confidence level is decimated again or when she doesn’t want anyone to see her.
I’ll also like to address those who try their best to bring down our confidence, simply outta envy or due to their own insecurities or prejudice. Whatever the reason might be, it’s the most awful thing you can do to anyone. Some are hungry for adulation & attention while others are addicted to it. It’s just sad that they think the whole world bows down to those who look better as nothing ever lasts, certainly not age or beauty.
If we would all wear masks or if we looked the same, what’d set us apart would be our innate qualities, personality & wits. And let’s think for a second, if demeaning words like unappealing or ugly never existed, we would all be the same.
But at the end of the day, it’s futile...ppl’s perception is never gonna change & they’re not gonna stop using words for their own benefit, playing with their definitions, and
“We’ll just have to accept ourselves”, so a smartass millennial like me could say, “Yes I accept that I’m ugly...what next?”
This platitude isn’t gonna help.
We should start by giving a chance... to ourselves, our life & others. We all need & deserve one to live up to our full potential.
