Jane Austen’s “Persuasion” is a beautifully nuanced and timeless love story. Much of Austen’s tone, subtlety and humor was lost in this adaption. Netflix’s mixture of modern language and attitudes felt awkward and out of place stuck in Regency-era England. It seemed like the characters were time traveling while Austen’s brilliantly drawn characters were unnecessarily tweaked. For instance Jane Austen’s Anne Elliot was not drowning her sorrows with alcohol. This latest adaption weakened her character in an attempt to show her silent suffering. Also breaking the fourth wall felt like an unnecessary device. I loved it in Fleabag but it didn’t work as well here. Austen’s unrequited love story between Anne Elliot and Captain Frederick Wentworth slowly built with an undeniable chemistry and restraint. This didn’t work as well as other productions. I have to admit I was disappointed in the script and acting. I hoped for a successful adaptation like the recent 2020 “Emma” with Anya Taylor-Joy or Saoirse Ronan’s more independent character Jo March in the 2019’s “Little Women”.

Disappointing and in many places cringeworthy. It's ageist. It makes 55 years old look more like 70. It's also ridiculous how uncomfortable the characters look as if they were alseep for 15 years.They apparently missed out on diversity, technology changes, etc. Samantha was always a scene stealer and her absence was felt.

Don't bother. This movie is one if the worst reviewed movies on Netflix for good reason. It starts out with kidnapping a woman and plays around with nonconsensual bondage. It sends the wrong message. 365 is poorly acted and written. It seems like satire rather than an attempt at movie making. I'm surprised that Netflix is actually showing it.

I enjoyed this show that at times is a little over the top but intriguing with its twists and turns. Season 1 is a fun ride with gaslighting and mystery. Great acting and good writing.

This 1967 movie is a classic. Great acting, directing, music, cinematography and strong screenplay makes this a must see show.

This was disappointing movie. Of course the singing scenes are always good but the writing and plot were terrible. It was a waste of talent.

This series has brilliant actors and a fascinating storyline. It's an intelligent show depicting social status and norms during 1997. The relationship between a white upper middle class woman and a mysterious African American woman begins awkwardly. Unintended racial stereotyping by Reese Withersppon's character causes her to tread lightly. Kerry Washington's character is haunted by a rough past and nightmares. She is guarded and closed off. Their lives are complicated by their children and personal struggles. There's a mystery surrounding the series with an opening scene of a burning house followed by a flashback four months earlier leading up to the destruction of the home. This series is worth viewing for the powerful acting and the intelligent sensitive script.

It's as if Thelma & Louise and Breaking Bad had a baby. This show is smart, dark, funny, complex and surprising. Great chemistry, good scripts and acting.

I love this show. It's like a Broadway play that encompasses music, dance, a crazy fantasy plot, humor and good acting. There's also poignant moments dealing with a serious illness, parent suicide, depression and unrequited love. Choreographer Mandy Moore (La La Land) turns the sets into magical flash dance sequences that quickly dissolve back to reality on the beat of the music. Using the best of pop culture and today's hits (I'm a Sucker For You) and classic songs (Moondance c. 1970) it is a music lover's dream.
