Where do I start?
The owl house is not your typical Disney series. Instead, it subverts popular tropes such as the hero's journey, giving it a much more grounded and realistic feel, while also staying an action packed horror-fantasy adventure.
Each main character has an arc, and they are very satisfying to watch. Lead character, Luz, comes from a diverse background, and does not "fit in" within the human world, but ultimately finds acceptance and belonging in the fictional world of the "boiling Isles" in which the show is set. Other lead characters include an adorable demon named king, and a rebellious but down to earth witch named Eda.
Animation is phenomenal, and fight scenes are well done. Humor also generally works, as do the horror elements.
Ultimately, this show is all about acceptance and finding your place in life, while challenging the notion of conformity.
