I miss the days when role playing was about escapism and not some virtue signaling ideology. Just bought theb5th ed. World of darkness Hunter the reckoning book, as I used to run the original mage game and hunter game in the day. It has been the hardest book I've had to read in quite some time. Hunters are now basically sam and dean Winchester from supernatural. Worse yet the writers seem more interested in parenting everyone about politics and their beliefs, even so much as to saying "if you find yourself in one of these groups, put the book down and call someone you care about a discuss where you went wrong in life". I constantly feel like they are trading flavor, which there is little, to just fill pages with rhetoric about not being a bigot.
The constant virtue signaling has left me uninspired, unsure how to even run the game as it seems all over the place, and virtually sick with the writers seeming to have to store their own political views and push them on players. People are adults, they don't need a gaming company to tell them how to act. Stick to selling a game and stop using it as a soap box. We want to escape reality and enjoy an adventure not deal with modern politicking and virtue signaling.
Don't recommend the new world of darkness. I'll look at getting the old one from drive thru rpg instead.
Would rate lower if I could.
