Honesty i see the reasons why many may say it's a "decent" free to play game, but (in my opinion) isn't the best free to play game ever made (i have my valuable reasons why i believe Brawlhalla is one of the saddest let downs as a fighting game ever...)
FIRST and foremost, the characters are basically the same. Don't lose your marbles people hear me out, yes it's a FREE game.. but in my opinion that's truly a lazy excuse for a game to lack diversity, look at another studio (known for their scummy acts) High-rez who are the creators of Paladins (The "Ashamed Overwatch Clone") and Smite (A "League of Legends Ripoff"). Yeah say what you want but these "Horrible Games" that aren't actual horrible, they're really good and very fun because of the different ways to play each character (relax about Paladins, mostly it's fun and there's people who can explain why anyways...). It's funny that both of those games that are 3D and have a vast list of interesting play styles and yet Brawlhalla a 2D game which doesn't use 3D models (for characters nor backgrounds) have a roster of clone characters (and please don't give me that BS of "Oh their weapons is what makes each character special" is invalided because it's only their heavy attacks wielding these weapons which is really restricting and allows them to make these cookie cutter characters with a "fresh pint of paint" also different stats doesn't count either, imagine Mario against Dr. Mario, whats the different? one is heavier/hits harder and the other is lighter, so different i guess...) AND people act as if this game should be treated as it's OWN game... yeah funny how other games are treated poorly or no one gives a f*** about it, calling it a poor man's *Blank* and people think that Brawlhalla is GOOD????
SECOND, Stages are as boring as ever (Final Destination with 2ish platforms maybe... i don't care) or stupidly questionable why it's designed like that... than there's the OST which shouldn't even exist because how empty or uninteresting it makes the battles feel (i think they only have one battle theme..), what makes one stage in smash more special besides it's design and layout, yeah it's soundtrack...
FINALLY, if you played smash and want to try a game like it then that's fine. It's pretty difficult finding a game similar to what you like.... right??? Well there's a game called RIVALS OF AETHER, it cost 14.99 (Based Game) and provides lots of qualities like.... having a great roster. Yeah may be 8 characters but they are completely different from one another and if you feel that this roster is too small than they have DLC characters bumping it up to 14 with playable characters like Shovel Knight, Ori (from ori and the blind forset), and have their own original characters, an AMAZING OST which really spices up the battle feeling intense you know... for a FIGHTING GAME TO WIN, a good story mode, better custom color options, a new "Abyss" mode, and it's not BAD?!?!?!? Here's more stuff, characters have up/down tilts, able to parry incoming attacks, an ACTUAL NEUTRAL SPECIAL (in Brawlhalla terms... heavy attack, neutral heavy is just up heavy).... here, my reasons why Brawlhalla isn't the BEST game, it's decent but is pale in comparison to Rivals of Aether.
