Disappointing. Howard Zinn attempts to provide a new light to American history, pointing out the darker streaks of US history. However, it seems Howard Zinn has fallen into the exact same trap previous historians suffered from. This book has clear political and philosophical biases, quotes, historical research used out of context, and most importantly fails to tell history. It feels in a lot of ways more like the political ramblings of a disenchanted 14-year-old rather than the impartial and neutral viewpoints we would rather have. While previous iterations of American history may over glorify the past, Howard Zinn is overly critical and supportive of his own worldview. His previous association with socialist organizations and political science does not help either. Seems like a waste of potential.
