I tried to watch this film many years ago I just couldn't get my head around it, even though I like Burt Lancaster ! It came on TV recently so I decided to give it another go. I'm so glad I did, as with age
(that is my age not the films ) I realised what a brilliant piece of work this is. I suppose now in my latter years the film makes sense, a haunting film that stays with you long after you have watched it.
