This is probably one of the most important books one can ever read in their lives. This will not only teach you about money but most importantly, discipline with money. Timeless classic!

I appreciated the approachable, inclusive tone. They do well addressing concerns that young women (or anybody marginalised in finance conversations) often have: social pressures, lack of representation, feeling intimidated. The tips are modern, practical, and delivered without condescension. Shortcomings: In some places quite generic — what they suggest aligns with many other modern finance books, so less “breakthrough” on the investing mechanics than perhaps one might hope. Also, some advice assumes a context (stable job, access to good investment vehicles) that not everyone has. But all in all, it fills an important space, especially for younger generations.

Ambitious, energizing, and rich with real‑life stories. Sabatier’s path from near bankruptcy to early financial independence is invigorating; the sections on side hustles, savings, mindset work, and rethinking “normal” are excellent. As someone retired, I still found parts of this helpful for thinking about purpose and what to do with my time and resources. What kept me from 5 stars: Again, the focus is heavily on folks who have enough flexibility (youth, ability to do side gigs, less family obligations). Some readers will find those strategies harder to replicate. Also, while Sabatier gives good numbers and tactics, sometimes the assumptions (return rates, market behaviour) are optimistic. Still, a very strong book.

A warm, narrative approach that works surprisingly well. The story form makes the lessons stick; I found myself remembering the “barber” examples more vividly than many dry chapters in textbooks. From a Canadian perspective, it has extra charm and relevance. Where it doesn’t shine fully: Some of the examples are a bit dated now; financial products today are more varied and fees more complex. Also, younger readers might find the pace slow in parts. But the advice is timeless, and for many people it’s a gateway into caring about finances in the first place.

Short, potent, and full of wisdom. I enjoyed how the authors distill large swaths of financial thought into a few simple rules — many of which align with what I’ve long believed from classic investing: live below your means; avoid high fees; diversify; don’t chase hot tips. My criticism: Sometimes the simplicity feels so pared down that it skirts complexity which matters in certain phases of life (e.g. taxes, retirement income planning, estate issues). But that trade‑off is deliberate, and for its audience — especially younger ones or people intimidated by finance — this book is excellent.

A delightful blending of values, purpose, and money. Vitug does more than tell you how to invest or save; he challenges you to think what you want in life, and then use your money towards that. For me, that’s been one of the most motivating aspects — it's not just accumulation, it’s direction. What it lacks: For someone more seasoned, parts of the advice felt familiar or sometimes aspirational more than immediately actionable. Also, the balance between mindset and mechanics could be tilted more toward harder tools (budgeting, tax strategies, retirement planning). But overall, it’s a solid book that many younger readers will benefit from greatly.

This is a short but powerful primer. It reminds me of how compounding and inflation — often buried in dry economic texts — are actually game changers. The writing is straightforward, the mindset sections are helpful, and Saravanan gives practical encouragement that investing doesn’t need to be scary or overly technical. On the flip side, because it is so short, the book can't go very deep. I sometimes wished for more nuance or more detailed tools for older investors. Yet I believe this kind of book is very* important for the young generation — gives them foundations they may never otherwise build.

A crisp, clear, and motivating read. As someone who’s admired classic works like The Intelligent Investor, I appreciated how this book takes many of the same reliable principles — low fees, diversification, patience — and presents them in a simpler, more modern way. Saravanan does an excellent job explaining ETF investing and how professional fund managers often fail to beat broad market indices. His tone is friendly, accessible, and often humorous, which is a refreshing contrast to the solemn seriousness of many traditional investing books. What held it back from five stars: I would have liked more case studies for Canadians, especially those in retirement or close to it, and deeper discussion of tax‑strategies in non‑US/US‑centric contexts. Still, highly useful, especially for younger people just beginning, or anyone feeling overwhelmed with finance jargon.

Candid, realistic, and often funny. I liked how this book doesn’t pretend that being smart means avoiding mistakes — we all err. The value is in knowing the traps, recognizing emotional biases, and using discipline. For someone like me, it reaffirmed many lessons learned but also offered a few new ones. Weak points: It occasionally leans more into anecdotes than systematic frameworks. For readers wanting spreadsheets, formulas, or retirement‑drawdown modelling, it may feel light. But as a supplement to more technical works, very useful.

If you like motivational style and mindset work, this is terrific. Sincero’s voice is bold, irreverent, and charging. Some chapters made me smile, some made me think, and overall the energy is contagious. For younger readers especially, messages about limiting beliefs, self‑worth, and money mindset are essential, and she delivers them well. However, as with many mindset books, it skids when it comes to depth in mechanics — taxes, legal structure, retirement plans, etc., are not her focus. Also, some of the tone may feel too “pep rally” if you prefer quiet, academic rigor (as I often do). But I would still encourage people to read it.
