When CDPR removed any mention of 'RPG' from this game and instead labeled it as 'Action Adventure' I probably should have seen this coming but I'll admit, I trusted them.
It plays like a pre-alpha Far Cry 5 with less customization options that are all essentially standard in open world games today. Wanna customize your car? Nope. Get a haircut? Nope. Tattoos? Nope. (Only in character creation, after that, youre stuck with the V you make - and even in this section, options are terribly underwhelming). Sure, there's different playstyles you can level into but thats basically it... there is nothing beyond the skill trees, an empty open world with generic side missions, and lifepaths that were clearly cut short and really dont offer anything other than different opening cinematics and pointless dialog options. All this hype from CDPR themselves claiming it would redefine open world gaming, I ate it up, bought into their hype, and was left with an incomplete, mediocre, bug ridden chode of a AAA game. Oh, and the bugs....I am plain stuck in the story due to a major game breaking/stalling bug that straight up halts any further progress. Critical NPCs just disappearing leaving me to hope that the next patch resolves this so I can at least beat the main story.
Nearly a decade in the making for just...this? Its bare bones everything...it's so bleh. Honestly, for those that have played it, what examples of revolutionary story telling, character development, general customization, gameplay mechanics, etc. are present in this game that makes it worthy as a $60 AAA title in the end of 2020?? Since CDPR has done everything they can to remove the tag 'RPG' from this game and switch it out with 'Action Adventure', try thinking about this: San Andreas, a THREE generation old action adventure sandbox title dropped back in 2004 with loads more content than this game. TONS more. Its baffling really.
This game needed way more dev time and way less cut content. Its painfully obvious.
