Fantastic, you have to put it in a kind of Marvel 'What If' bracket.
It's a mess of timeliness, and take out of that what you will. I choose to watch it as its own thing, not a prequel, not a sequel and not a retelling. In truth it is a little of all of it. It has as many identities as the starring character...
The House, the motel, the sign are perfect, they are characters in their own right (I COULD have done without the streetlights on the infamous steps...) As are the fantastic actors portraying the lead roles. So as far as I am concerned it's 5 stars from me.
Freddy Highmore deserved an award of some kind for this.
