What a delightful game, and a supportive dev team to go along with it.
tl;dr I'd say a solid 8.5- 9/10, great multiplayer and some really well thought out features. Where there is room for improvement, the dev team is openly communicating and active, so expect this game to get even better!
This game genuinely has some of my favorite RPG mechanics, and does them well. Utilizing a "practice makes progress" style, players can level any skill, from swinging their axe to jumping, simply by doing that thing. Your character will become better by just playing the game!
Building is simple to do, yet has a rewarding skill ceiling. Just check some of the pictures online, people are amazingly talented!
Food! Eating in this game gives buffs. Mostly in the form of increased health/stamina stats, and better food gives better buffs! Eat well before your boss fights! I love that food has a distinct purpose, but isn't too complex as to make it frustrating to use. It's the best separation from a hunger system while still providing benefit and I love it.
Progression is measured, world exploration feels varied and interesting with procedurally generated maps, and your first serpent fight is a feeling like no other. Boating is fun (and will be updated further in the future) though swimming is a mildly frustrating skill. It uses stamina (makes sense) but when you run out you just start dying which doesn't entirely make sense considering how quickly it drains stamina. I think they don't want people to just be able to swim from island to island, which makes sense, but I think it shouldn't kill you if you're in shoreline water, rather than deep water (it's already differentiated on the map, so there's basis for the idea).
The devs are very active and forthright about their intention for the game, and they've been doing a genuinely good job listening to players and building the future of the game while keeping everyone in the loop. I greatly look forward to the future of this game, and as it sits *already* this game is in my top 10 and feels very well put together for a game that is still being built.
