Godzilla: King of the Monsters was somewhat of a let down. In my personal opinion the massive scale monster battles were dragged down by the lack of a comprehensible storyline. From the beginning the story line was muddied and hard to latch on to. Although it was a rough start i will credit the writers with sort of (heavy emphasis on sort of) recovering the story line as the movie progressed. Also this was the first Godzilla movie I've seen with so many corny jokes in it, comparable to Avengers: Endgame. Not to mention the fact that the writers write Ice Cubes son a joke every 5 minutes so we don't forget about him. Of course when you talk about Godzilla you must talk about the magnificent, epic battle sequences. Although seeing what sometimes felt like the same thing over and over, seeing all the monsters ravage various cities is always a sight to behold. The frequent battles and huge scale cinematic shots were easily the best part of the movie. Not to mention the final battle between Gihdorah and Godzilla (personal favorite part). But of course this is the whole reason you watch these monster movies. To sum things up this movie is okay for what its made for, large scale destruction and battle scenes, but sadly it is muddled down with a subpar storyline. I still recommend seeing this movie as it is pleasing to the inner demolitionist. 6/10
