Ironic that a book written in 1993 explaining the complex ways that neglect and sexual trauma can affect a child’s development is being demonized now, 30 years after the fact, when previously, it was likely just seen as a tool to provide to children to help them feel less ashamed and alone from being the victim of family trauma. Many MANY children are groomed by family members and close family friends and feel incredibly upsetting and complex emotions once they realize they have been groomed by a trusted adult. This is very obviously not a book written to be used as entertainment and anyone claiming so is sorely mistaken and lacks critical thought. This book very obviously has a singular purpose that it serves: to help young abuse victims process the trauma that they endured and to relieve the victim of past shame from being victimized.
