A bit too long for a book about two wheels. Not much of a mystery but did provide good data on bicycles such as it can carry 400 times its own weight and that at her most prolific time (1996), China had 523 million bicycles. The author had it wrong when he said (page 6) "thousands of pedal-driven taxis jam the the streets of Singapore" (and Manila) . It's true of Manila but definitely not Singapore.
