Self made was an interesting netflix tv show based on Madam C J Walker on the come up lifestyle. Originally Madam C.J. Walker was a washerwoman who was living paycheck-to-paycheck for a saleswoman named Addie. Addie and Madam c.j. Walker started to build a relationship as friends once addie showed acts of kindness when Madam c.j. Walker was being abused by her ex-husband. Through this bond, Madam c.j. Walker wanted to be more involved with Addie's hair business after the hair grease helped with her hair troubles. But with this recent friendship let down a very bumpy road with addie. Addie would often be very colorist and fatphobic to anyone who didn't fit her image including Madame c.j. Walker. With this discouragement from everyone in her life madam C. J. Walker uses this as fuel to create a booming hair business. Madam c.j. Walker was portrayed by Octavia Spencer, Addy was played by Carmen ejogo Mr. c.j. Walker was played by Blair Underwood and Madam c.j. Walker's daughter was played by Tiffany haddish. I think Madam c.j. Walker was betrayed perfectly and I think Madam c.j. Walker Descendants being part of this TV show really adds to that factor . With that being said I think Addy was kind of an unnecessary character to embellish so much but her being there really made Madam c.j. Walker feels like the underdog and makes you want to root for her ! I definitely recommend this to people pg-13 and up who enjoy underdog movies that are based on real people and who enjoy Inspirational movies. Overall I give this movie four out of five because there's no such thing as Perfect movie and It was kinda over-dramatized a little more than what was needed. But also it was very interesting and Entertaining. THIS IS FOR MY SCHOOL!
