Absolutely amazing for the VR experience. It is not exaggerating to say it is the best title for VR because of its mmo capability and amazingly huge maps and system.
TLDR It's 5 stars for me because I see there is a great potential for the game. If you have a need to know why, sit tight to read the following as I give my reasons for this 5 stars review:
Price: 5/5. Given its huge depth, it is very much worth for its price. For comparison, it is about the same price as Beat Saber. Of course, it is a different genre, but there's so much you can experience or learn in Zenith as compared to Beat Saber (which personally I would think of as a very casual game that doesn't lure me to play it everyday and I can pick it up again any time I want). In case you feel that I am bashing Beat Saber, I have both games, so I can easily make this comparison.
Community: 5/5. The community is really big. I was initially hesitant to purchase this because I was worried that there would not be a lot of players, especially given that the game was released in Dec 21 and I am only starting it out in Apr 22 (people usually finish endgames within a couple of months and this will be the make or break duration of any game until content or challenges are being released. Read this Valheim...), but time in the game has proven otherwise.
Marketing: 4/5. I have to first say that my system is the Oculus Quest 2. Unfortunately, the Oculus store in the Quest 2 system did not prominently feature this game. Instead, it was the mobile app version of Oculus that actually showed this game to me (and even then, it was via looking at similar titles at first before I came across this). The Oculus store itself is not really good at promoting this game, so I would say it requires more efforts from the Zenith team to actually promote this game to VR users. On the other hand, the description that it was inspired by SAO plus other player reviews were the very first thing that caught my attention.
Potential: 5/5. I talk about potential for two major reasons. One is the cost of adopting VR itself and another is the game development. The biggest obstacle for the game to become greater is that the adoption of VR is still not very widespread. VR has been out for some time but its price has not lowered at all (duh). However, despite its initial high costs, I see that more electronic retailers have partnered with many financing services that allow people to afford VR with more flexibility, which may inspire more people to give a go. Game development is another important factor. I've read some of the 1 star reviews, and I felt that these issues can easily be handled as more content are progressively released. As I said above, the fact that I read some new content being released in Feb (2 months from its release) goes to show that developers do care about releasing new content and therefore we can expect that they will add new challenges and features, given time.
Things to improve:
1. add quest trackers on the map
2. add in a quick tutorial to practise the movement for every cadence you have unlocked so you can understand how it works (and in the event the player doesn't want that, just add a checkbox to disable).
