The series is certainly trying to keep everyone happy. There is the black cop, the Asian cop, the middle aged detective & the gay daughter….got to cover all stereotypes. Clearly Annika got this job because she is female. She is ditsy and pre occupied. Even her response to emergency situations is appalling. Eg Micky jumping in the water with the burning woman…Annika just stands there looking into space. Normal people would grab the life buoy & throw it to their colleague and assist in some capacity…. Annika is flat and disinterested….
