The criticisms of this film have some truth, its at times horrific and uncomfortable to watch. However its clearly taking creative liberties with Marilyns story. At least it confronts how brutal and destructive Hollywood treated her. This was a broken damaged woman who was talented, intelligent and in many ways ahead of her time. And she killed herself too. A complex fascinating woman. Dont consider this film as her truth, we'll never get her truth.
It adds nothing new to Marilyns story though but I never went in expecting that. I am a huge fan of Marilyn Monroes and see this film as one persons vision of one aspect of her psyche. I'm more intrigued by peoples response to it more.
If you're in the mood for a horrific fever dream of a film then id recommend it.
