A massive budget, and it felt a bit like a B movie. There were scenes I found pointless in moving the over-complex theme forward. I got the impression they were trying to re-create a Matrix style formula, with their eyes on a a few sequels. It is fun to watch, and some of the acting was good, but certainly not worthy of awards. None of it was. The sound was not as good as it should be either. I didn't find Washington believable in the role unfortunately, and imagine he is capable of better performances in roles that more intense, and broody. The Mumbai mafia link was baffling to say the least. I ended up not caring what happened to any of the characters in the plot. I think the biggest issue for me, that affected the feel of the whole movie, was poor script writing that inevitably leads to poor character development and good delivery. As for Kenneth B??? Where's Gary Oldman when you need him!

The movie was a fitting tribute to the band, and their unique place in music's history. With a soundtrack that includes most of our favourite Queen anthems, it couldn't fail to deliver a stirring, nostalgic visit to the band's legacy. Considering their long career in the spotlight, it was inevitably going to feel a bit rushed, and lack depth with regard to some of the darker, more personal aspects of Freddie's life, but then I couldn't help thinking that Freddie would have wanted it that way. If you watch film this with an open heart, and don't focus too heavily on the script, you can't fail to enjoy it. Thank you Freddie and the boys, for providing the soundtrack to so many of our lives! x
