Jigra is, in actuality, a brilliant film which failed to click with the audiences. It is a concept alien to Indian, mostly Hindi cinema, given the absence of a romantic plot and a dance number. Not implying that itโs a bad thing, just saying that itโs different.
Emotionally, it is very intense. Usual actions film do have an emotional plot-line but this is an absolutely killer one.
Sure, it gets a little too over the top at a few instances but thatโs the essence of Indian films. The masala.
You will be satisfied if you go with no expectations. Alia Bhatt is top-notch. The costume design and overall aesthetics are pretty contemporary and ravishingly displayed. Thatโs art. And oh, the music. Absolutely mellifluous.
Overall, Iโd give it a solid 4/5. In fact, I feel itโs over-hated. Hopefully it performs better on Netflix after its theatrical run.
