Good day Sir / Madam
Hope this letter finds you well.
We as the community in Elsburg are really frustrated with our Ekurhuleni Metropolitan municipality.
In Elsburg we have power outages weekly ranging from 5 up to 60 hours without electricity. Sometimes also dont have water. We had another power failure for 31 hours from yesterday (Friday ) to this morning.
Now at 14h21 the power went off again.
We are paying customers which do our part to keep the Municipality going. We dont have illegal connections. We dont steal cables but we must be without services permanently.
Three weeks ago we were without electricity for 60 hours from the Thursday afternoon. The councillors reported that the teams are on site. Only for us to find out on Friday morning 09h00 that they didn't have access to the premises where the substation is. We were kept in the dark for 60 hours. Continuous promises that it will be switched on in 2 hours. That didn't happen . Why is a substation locked inside a business premises ?
The whole community's food went off and had to be dumped cause it was rotten. When trying to claim you get told they need a slip. Who keeps slips for meat and vegetables ? They just turn a blind eye and give you attitude.
The informal settlements around us shines like diamonds with all the illegal connections.
In my private capacity I urge you to please assist us. It is not a rich community. The average income is just enough to feed the families. Here is people that is on oxygen 24/7.
As this was not bad enough. Our waste were not collected for two weeks.
This is not fair. If we dont pay they cut off in one day. But we must be satisfied with this poor service.
An email sent to one of the leaders were just forwarded to the Ekurhuleni offices. Nothing was done.
I trust you will find above in order and that we can get a positive outcome.
Regards
