Bill Burr plays Jack, an “old dad” who wears his heart on his sleeve and is always getting into trouble for his outbursts and politically incorrect, insensitive language. Jack struggles to coexist within a hyper-woke community which rebukes and punishes him for nearly everything he says and does.
It’s a solid comedy with some absurd moments poking fun at the hypocrisy of those who judge or try to control Jack. It’s also a fair critique of the virtue signaling and hypocrisy which often accompany “woke” culture. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with being woke (socially aware and sensitive), there’s something ludicrous about pretending to be woke so others will see and reward your “wokeness.” That’s the heart of the critique, and no one can deliver that with quite the same hilarious outrage as Bill Burr.
