I was touched by this tale because of its "little man" approach to government indifference to the people it used to do its dirty work. Nothing new there, but worth repeating. What annoys me with this type of film is how it concentrates solely on the American side of things. It's not propaganda, but it serves to promote concepts of American "decency" without looking at the sheer misery its policies cause to foreign people. One shouldn't forget that the same soldiers it honours were also killers fighting a war that wasn't theirs in a country they decimated with Agent Orange and ultimately failed everybody, including themselves.
